Support for Bill 141, the "Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness, Research, and Care Act, 2015"

On November 30th, 2015, two maternal-fetal medicine specialists at the University of Toronto, Dr. Jon Barrett (Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre) and Dr. John Kingdom (Mount Sinai Hospital) attended the Ontario Legislature to show support and give remarks at the Social Policy Committee hearings for Bill 141, the "Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness, Research, and Care Act, 2015", a private member's bill initiated by MPP Mike Colle (Eglinton-Lawrence). This legislation passed 3rd reading on December 7th, 2015 and became enacted into law on December 8th, 2015. This legislation will require the Government of Ontario to direct resources to the improvement of clinical services, education and further research, for women and their families suffering perinatal and recurrent pregnancy losses.
