Named in honour of Dr. John R. McArthur and awarded for excellence in research. Dr. McArthur was an eminent gynaecologist based at Toronto General Hospital in the 1940s. He focused his work on gynaecologic cancer and introduced radiotherapy for the treatment of cervical cancer.
