Resident's Poem Published in the Green Journal

First page of poem

First page of poemLast month, Dr. Emily Delpero, a fourth-year resident with the Department, was featured in The Green Journal for her poem entitled A Night on Call. The piece was featured in the 135th volume of the well-regarded American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists' medical journal.

A Night on Call describes a common night for many physicians, as described by Dr. Delpero.

"I wrote this piece in response to the rising academic interest in the human and systemic factors underlying resilience and physician burnout. It is also a response to the shifting political tides we face as we advocate for our patients in a changing world," said Dr. Delpero. "I hoped to encourage reflection and also engender a feeling of solidarity amongst readers who do such powerful yet humbling work while extending a thank-you to the teams who help us on a daily basis. At the time of submission (even just a short time ago!), the world was in a different spot, but I am so happy to see that it resonates even now."

Dr. Delpero thanks those who have shared the poem. Read the full piece on The Green Journal's website.
