Fellows hold up their completed trainers

Dr. Mireille Diem-My Truong, program director of the Cedars-Sinai fellowship in MIGS, recently delivered grand rounds, before spending the day with the Department's MIGS fellows to teach them how to develop their own simulation models for different surgeries.

After presenting rounds titled "Simulation for Ob-Gyns: Levelling up our patients and ourselves," Dr. Truong and a group of six fellows put on their creative caps and spent time using cardboard boxes, tensor bandages, pipe cleaner, foam, and other arts-and-crafts supplies to build their own laparoscopic trainers.

"All the residents who participated said it was an amazing session and they really appreciated learning to make their own trainers," said assistant professor Dr. Grace Liu, who organized the rounds.

"Our fellows need to be able to hone their skills outside of the operating room, and this gave them a taste for what simulation can be.

"It was really nice of Dr. Truong to spend the day with us, and I think she was really impressed with the calibre and enthusiasm of our fellows."
