The Department is proud to announce our new Associate Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, Dr. Melanie Ornstein.
Dr. Ornstein will be joining the Undergraduate Program to work in collaboration with the Program's Director, Dr. Dini Hui, who is looking forward to this new relationship. "I am excited that Dr. Ornstein will be joining the team as Associate Director, as she will bring her passion for education to the Undergraduate ObGyn Program and help to make it better than ever!"
Currently, Dr. Ornstein is an Associate Professor with the Department and is on staff at Michael Garron Hospital, where she is involved in general obstetrics and gynaecology; as well as paediatric and adolescent gynaecology, with a special interest in working with women with developmental disabilities. With a Master's in Education, Dr. Ornstein has been involved in education throughout her medical career, including teaching medical students, residents, fellows, midwife students and medical observers. At Michael Garron Hospital, she has functioned in the past as the resident and fellow coordinator, and currently works as the education lead for medical students. She has also been honoured with many awards for her contributions to education.
"I am very excited to be starting this new position and working alongside Dr. Dini Hui, who I respect very much," said Dr. Ornstein. "I hope to play a role, in collaboration with Dr. Hui, in assessing the current medical student curriculum in obstetrics and gynaecology, and updating it. I hope to work with other leaders in medical education from all our teaching sites to make sure our seminars, online resources, in-person sessions and on-site education is evidence-based and clinically-relevant. I hope to play a role in continuing to provide quality obstetrics and gynaecology education, and motivate future physicians to be interested and excited to participate in reproductive healthcare."
Congratulations Dr. Ornstein! We look forward to seeing your contributions to our Department!
