Congratulations to the winners of the Best Oral Presentation Award at the APOG Annual Meeting that took place this month.
(1) Dr. Aparna Sarangapani (PGY4), for the study entitled "Teaching Patient and Instrument Selection for Operative Vaginal Deliveries". The professional educational videos created for this simulation-assisted study help formalize second stage assessment and instrument selection. The study also involved Drs. Andrew Simpson, John Snelgrove, Mary Higgins, Rory Windrim and Abheha Satkunaratnam. Support was provided by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Mount Sinai Hospital.
(2) Dr. Hadar Rosen (MFM Fellow) for the study entitled "Simulator Based Obstetric Ultrasound Training: A Prospective Randomized Single-Blinded Study". This study demonstrated the benefits of a high-fidelity simulator in the teaching of fetal ultrasound, with particular benefit from simulation seen for novice learners. The trial also involved Drs. Stefania Ronzoni, Yee Man Lee, Lara Gotha, Sev Perelman and Rory Windrim.
