Headshot of Dr. SelkRecently, the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease's North American chapter elected their new president, and our Department is proud to announce that the physician chosen is Associate Professor Dr. Amanda Selk.

Dr. Selk is the first Canadian to be elected to this position and is very excited to take on this new role.

"I’m passionate about teaching other healthcare providers how to care for vulvar issues, which are a high-needs area of women’s health," said Dr. Selk. "It’s why I created both The Vulva Diaries podcast - which has had over 32,000 downloads from listeners in 89 countries worldwide - and, it’s why I’ve created the new fellowship in vulvovaginal health. Becoming president will allow me to create and promote more educational and collaborative opportunities and, if we can go back to in-person events during my term, I’d love to host an international event in Toronto and show others our great city and Department."

The ISSVD was founded in 1970 at the Sixth World Congress of the International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FIGO) in New York City. Over the following year, individuals throughout the world who shared a primary interest in vulvovaginal disease were identified and invited to join the new society as founding fellows.

Congratulations, Dr. Selk!
