Michael Shier

Dr. Shier is a Professor in the Department of  Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto. He is the Medical Director of the Colposcopy Unit at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and is a previous Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Chief of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Currently, he is the Regional Lead for Colposcopy Cancer Care Ontario. He is a past President of The Society of Canadian Colposcopists and past Chair of The Medical Council of Canada for Obstetrics and Gynaecology. His invited lectureships related to lower genital tract disease include the Cannell lecture for the SOGC, the Genesis lecture for the University of Toronto and the Tew lecture for the University of Western Ontario. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Lower Genital Tract Disease. His current and past research interests include the development of HPV prophlactic vaccines and topical antiviral agents.
