Filomena Meffe
Dr. Filomena Meffe is a Professor and Clinician Educator in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. She is Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology and co-director of the Multidisciplinary Clinic for Women with Bleeding Disorders at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. She earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology from U of T and was Director of Undergraduate Medical Education, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, U of T, from 2001 to 2013.
To further her interest in medical education leadership, she completed the two-year Education Scholars Program (2004-06) and the New and Evolving Academic Leadership program (2014-15) with the Centre for Faculty Development at the University of Toronto. Her research activities focus on Interprofessional Education and Collaboration in the maternity care setting. She has received funding support for this work from various sources including the Dean’s Excellence Fund, U of T, HealthForceOntario (2007-2008, 2009-2010), Ryerson University, the Canadian Medical Protective Association and AFP Innovation Funds through St. Michael’s Hospital.
Her clinical practice is focused on obstetrical care, gynecologic surgery and the care of women with heavy menstrual bleeding in the context of inherited and acquired bleeding disorders. Her research interests include: Interprofessional Education and Collaboration.
