Jonathon Solnik
MD, FACOG, FACS
Dr. Jonathon Solnik is the Head of Gynaecology and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital and Site Chief of Gynecology at Women's College Hospital. Although a native of Toronto, he served for 9 years as Division Director of Urogynecology and the Center of Excellence for Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles before joining the University of Toronto Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2015.
He completed his medical undergraduate education at the University of Texas -Houston, followed by a residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Emory School of Medicine. Since completing a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery from Magee-Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, he has focused his clinical and programmatic efforts towards the advancement of surgical care for women. He has built his reputation on providing innovative and individualized care, emphasizing improvement in quality of life. He provides minimally invasive surgical options for most benign reproductive disorders requiring surgery such as uterine fibroids (including alternatives to hysterectomy), adenomyosis, endometriosis, pelvic masses, uterine anomalies (intrauterine pathology) and certain aspects of pelvic organ prolapse. He has been listed in US News Health and World Report and named in both Best Doctors in America and Los Angeles.
Dr. Solnik has established his academic career as a leader in surgical gynaecology, recognized by international organizations for his capacity as a surgical educator. Although he is invited to speak at national and international courses, he spends a significant amount of his time teaching residents, fellows and colleagues in the operating room. He was also one of the Medical Directors at the Women’s Guild Simulation Center for Advanced Clinical Skills, where he focused on implementing curriculum for surgical skill development for residents.
