Health Innovation Hub's FemSTEM

This event is hosted by the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine's Health Innovation Hub (H2i).

The goal at H2i is to grow a local culture, practice and infrastructure to translate discoveries and ideas into problem-solving designs, services and products by connecting people with mentors, resources, researchers, key opinion leaders and professionals to help them translate, defuse and scale discoveries. Using this model, H2i is currently helping over 115 ventures commercialize their health innovations. H2i wants to focus on fostering a diverse and inclusive community and commit to supporting women in STEM who want to create their own business.

All are welcome to join: students, faculty, staff, alumni & members of the H2i community.

The event will begin with a panel session celebrating female founders and lead mentors in entrepreneurship. Discussions will begin about the entrepreneurship sector through individuals’ journeys, debunk common myths about gender differences and how they impact this field and explore how we can all play a role in creating an inclusive entrepreneurship community.

Following this session, a hands-on workshop will begin where attendees will learn how to ideate, create, optimize and communicate a new business idea using H2i’s 10-point system facilitated by Paul Santerre, H2i's Co-Director. Participants will work in groups, facilitated by a table lead: panellists, H2i entrepreneurs or mentors, to create a pitch deck.

This hands-on event will give participants insights into entrepreneurial thinking and planning to help guide you through your own business ideas. Some ideas will be provided but attendees can also come with their own or brainstorm new ideas with their group.
