Graduates

Dr. Alarab graduated from Medical School Baghdad University, following which she completed her training in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Ireland and UK, receiving the membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (UK) and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

She then completed a fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto, during which  she developed an interest in the etiology of pelvic organ prolapse in young women and that was the subject of her Master of Science thesis towards an MSc degree with the Institute of Medical Science, University of Toronto.

Research/Teaching

Research Synopsis:

I have started a basic science research program within the division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery. It is the first of its kind in Canada to examine the extra cellular matrix of vaginal tissue of women with pelvic organ prolapse and to study the molecular biology of this disease using the gene and protein expression profile. This program has evolved and has both an national and international reputation wherein fellows and postgraduate students have been utilizing this venue in their fellowship training and in achieving higher post graduate degrees. Our work has been acknowledged both  locally and Internationally. Mount Sinai is Known for this specific research. In addition, our work has been awarded  peer-reviewed publications and presentations on the international level.
